Cause Of Death Of Bobbi Kristina And Whitney Houston Revealed

Details of how the 22-year-old daughter of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston died emerge as a court order is lifted.
Bobbi Kristina died in July last year after six months in a coma

A medical examiner has said Bobbi Kristina Brown's face being immersed in water, along with drug intoxication, led to her death.

The daughter of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston died at a hospice last July.

She had been in a coma after being found face-down and unresponsive in a bathtub at her home in Atlanta six months earlier.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office in Atlanta released a statement on Friday on the death as it prepares to release the full autopsy report.

It said marijuana and alcohol were involved in the 22-year-old's death, along with medications used for sedation or to treat anxiety.

However, it said it was not possible to determine whether she meant to take her own life.

"The underlying cause of death is the condition which starts the downhill course of events leading to death and in this case is the immersion associated with drug intoxication," the office said in a statement.

"Death was clearly not due to natural causes, but the medical examiner has not been able to determine whether death was due to intentional or accidental causes, and has therefore classified the manner of death as undetermined."

But that was lifted on Thursday by a judge following requests by the media.

In February 2012, Houston died aged 48 from accidental drowning in a bathtub at a hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

Authorities said years of cocaine abuse and heart disease played a key role in her death.

Bobbi Kristina - referred to as Krissy by family members - was treated in hospital twice for anxiety after her mother died.
